Last minute

Well it's as I had said - I am getting there and Christmas will happen as planned in our house.  I think I'm almost there - got to go and pick up a couple of last minute things this afternoon and of course a bit more food shopping during the week but the main things are done - tree is up, kids presents wrapped and under the tree - all good.

I managed another 400g off this week leaving me with 800g to lose this week for me to make 5kgs.  But I don't think it's going to happen.  We had a work morning tea on Friday and I had to take savoury stuff - so took lots of chopped up vegies, some rice crackers and a couple of dips - one tzatziki and I nibbled away on them and managed to leave the rich home made slices alone.  So far so good.  But then last night after everyone was in bed I got a chocolate urge - doesn't happen very often these days thankfully - but there were some Lindt balls in the fridge - and they were screaming my name!!! So I ended up eating four of the little devils just to shut them up!!  Anyway I'm going to try and have another couple of hundred grams off before Christmas.

Got a nice surprise on Tuesday morning when Clive called from Perth to say that because of the cyclone off the coast of WA, the accommodation barge for the rig was being demobilised so he wasn't going offshore as planned that day - instead he was flying back here.  So he's been here since Tuesday and could be here right up to almost Christmas day - or beyond - just depends how things go with TC Laurence.  It crossed to land and weakened to a low but has gone back out to sea and re-intensified and is now predicted to cross the coast again on Tuesday as a Category 4.  It would be lovely to have him here as we haven't all had a Christmas together for 4 years.

Bloss is now on holiday for the next two weeks but I'm just having the public holidays off - I always have to hoard up as much of my annual leave as I can.  It's Ok for him - years of shift work means he has literally months of leave and long service leave.

On Friday night I was meant to be going to a farewell for someone at work - but it was in town and I decided that I'd rather stay home and have a couple of glasses of wine.  Grant had his work Christmas do for a couple of hours from 4 till 7 and he had been looking for someone to mind the boys. So after I got home from work I rung them and told them of my change of plans and so they brought the boys down while he and Tiff went to the Christmas do.  We were all playing on the Wii - it's sad when your 4 year old grandson can beat you at Mario Karts!  But also had lots of fun with the ski jump and the heading footballs on WiiFit.  Thinking I'd like to get Wii Sing - that should be good for a few laughs after a drink or two!

Wakened at 2.30am this morning by a massive thunderclap and went toddling downstairs to rescue Zanna who hates thunderstorms but at the bottom of the stairs heard Clive's voice calling that he had already taken her in.  We had a few very big bangs and a bit of lightening over the next hour or so and quite a decent bit of rain.  But all dry again this morning.  Clive left at 5am to go out fishing so hoping for some nice reef fish for tea tonight!!

Right possums this will probably be my last post before Chrissie - so here's wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas and may 2010 have many wonderful things in store for you all.

Can I get to five?

That's kilos off before Christmas. I've got two more weigh ins but based on my current rate of loss I doubt if I'll quite get there .... but I'll keep trying. 400g off this week so steady, steady. I'm calling this project Inching to Italy - my plan is to be at an all time low by the time we leave - plus I'm tracking measurements too - so a bit of a pun really.

On the holiday front Shaz and I are starting to do a bit of planning - I've been to see my wonderful travel agent and picked his brains inside out. Given that we only plan to be there for 3 weeks we need to look at how best to see as much as we can in that period - without spending an arm and a leg. It looks like there are some quite good flight prices on offer through Emirates - Brisbane to Rome via Dubai and then leaving from Athens on the way back which would suit us nicely. We've spotted a nice 16 day tour - Rome, Florence, Venice, then the overnight ferry to Greece - tour around Athens, Tolon, Olympia then pick up a four day cruise of the Greek Islands with a brief stop in Turkey. Now we need to sit down and pin actual dates to this so we can get firm prices and see how it all hangs together.

I got my calendars back from Snapfish on Friday - really quick turn around - order online one Friday and at my front door the next Friday. Once again really delighted with them and posted them off to Scotland yesterday. Have ordered my Serendipity Europe 2009 book from them - that's what I titled it, and it should arrive this week - can't wait to see it.

Here's a view of the three calendars

I managed to get a bit more of my Christmas shopping done yesterday - it's starting to come together now - and I even  wrote and posted some Christmas cards.  I had no excuse this year - I haven't sent any for 2 years - don't know why anyone is still bothering with me to be honest - my friends are obviously persevering and forgiving!  2 years ago my excuse was that I was racing off to Scotland because Mum had her hip surgery and last year I was too busy as she and my sister and BiL were here.  But no excuses this year so needed to pull my finger out!!

Ok troops - here's to another week without too many excesses and a sizeable weightloss would be good! Have a good one folks.

Beautiful Sunday

Well I'm still in bed - even although over on Face Book, Briony has told me it's time I was up and at it!

Another week has flown past and it's so near Christmas and I'm not very organised but I suppose I'll pull the stops out and it will happen. I'm really busy at work.I support two sites and spend two days at one and three at the other so Monday I'm at the one closest to home, then Tuesday and Wednesday off to the other one, then Thursday and Friday back here again - it makes the week just flash by. I was sick on Friday - copped a really bad migraine about 1am on Friday morning and although it had eased a bit by 5.30am I was scared to move in case I made it flare up again. So spent most of Friday in bed and was OK by night time - just had that totally washed out feeling. Josh and Curtis were coming to stay overnight so Clive went and picked them up for me and once they're here they're no trouble and in fact a lot of fun.

Weight wise I managed another 300g off - and starting to feel not quite so podgy round the middle! Still not managing to get into much in the way of exercise - which I know would help it to move a bit faster not to mention help the saggy bits - but I keep telling myself the awakening will come - wish it would bloody hurry up!

Spent a bit of time on Friday afternoon putting together calendars for my family in Scotland - there's a really good site called Snapfish where you can upload your photos and make a personalised calendar.  I did one for Mum and my sister last year and they just loved them.  Mum has hers on the wall beside the phone and quite often when I phone she'll tell me who's smiling at her from the calendar.  You can also put people's birthdays on the appropriate space on it too so makes it easy to see whose birthday is coming up.  Anyway they had a special on so I was able to get each calendar for $13 instead of the normal $24.95.  Then they sent me an email thanking me for my calendar order and offering me 20 per cent discount on photobooks.  I've been in the process of building one of these for a while now.  While on holiday in Europe - I took lots of pictures of doors and doorways - they fascinate me and Bloss has the same fascination for signs and streetlamps.  So I'm building us a coffee table type book with all our pictures of these.  So just about to order that now and can't wait to see how it turns out.

Well it's now almost 9am so I'd better move myself - this is the week I make all my little containers of jelly and fruit to take to work and I'll also make a monster bowl of salad to last me through the week to take to work.  Need to make one to take to Grant and Tiff's tonight  too.  We're going there for tea and Clive too - he's staying there tonight as it's close to the airport and he's off to Perth on the first flight.  I'm going to miss him - he's been with us for 8 weeks this time and he's such a good help round the place.  However he's back again for a couple of days at New Year, then again at the end of January and after that will be based in Perth for a while - working offshore in the North west.

Been to Brisvegas

Busy weekend for us - we left straight after work on Friday and drove to Maryborough which is about half way between us and Brisbane.  We got there about 7pm and checked into our motel and then had a couple of drinks then went to a local pub for tea.  Saturday morning we were up and on the road by 7am and got to Chermside - which has a huge Westfield shopping centre by about 10.30am.  I managed to do a fair bit of damage to my debit card - see below, then met up with my friend Ruthie (who I hadn't seen since our Melbourne weekend back in March) for lunch.  Then we headed to our apartment we had booked - close to the friends we were catching up with and near the city centre.

We went out for dinner to Embers Steakhouse - and had an absolutely delicious meal. Then this morning we caught up with the same friends for breakfast then started the big drive home - 6 hours later and home sweet home again.

On the weight loss front - managed to lose 500g this week so happy with that - just plugging along.  I tried to be reasonably good this weekend and think I managed to make reasonably good choices  - Swiss chicken and salad with no chips on Friday night and left most of the cheese, bacon and egg roll for breakfast and picked all the fat off the bacon, Moroccan chicken and salad with a yoghurt dressing for lunch, and eye fillet with green peppercorn sauce served on the side - salad and baked potato. Then I weakened and had dessert - Frangelico Affogato - ice cream with espresso coffee and frangelico liqueur - delectable!!!!.  Breakfast this morning was the Lifestyle breakfast at the Coffee Club then an Anzac biscuit and Skinnycino at Sexie Coffee and of course a few wines to wash all this down!

So now to the pictures.....

I still had to get my birthday present from Bloss - didn't know what I wanted - but finally decided I 'd like some really good sunglasses - can't manage to get a decent picture - but for my birthday and Christmas combined- I've got these beautiful sunglasses - hopefully you can see that I've got an magnificent pair of Prada's

Then I went into Wombat and spotted this gorgeous dress - I didn't have too may summer dresses in my wardrobe

And this one was from Wombat too - got both for about $150 after reductions

This little number was from Harris Scarfe - bit of a reduction happening - was about $40

A little Millers number for $19.95

A snip this one - thought it was $39 reduced from $99.95 but when I got to the till - it was $10!!!!!!

Bloss and I at dinner

The group of us having dinner - the guy with glasses at the end of the table is my step son - Bloss's eldest son - an absolutely top guy.

All right - that's you all up to date - have a top week everybody.

Time for a change again

Well you know me and my hair - I get fed up looking at myself and need a change - so while I'm still keeping it a bit longer I got it shaped in at the back and also decided that I was 'over' the chocolate foils so got a few more blonde/copper ones. I've still got a smattering of the chocolate here and there but not nearly so much. It's taken soooo long to get my side bits to grow but at last they're getting there.

Can't remember if I told you this or not - but I was having trouble getting the sides to grow - just kept going all brittle and breaking. Part of this is a legacy from being hypothyroid but when I was in Melbourne on the girls weekend back in March, Shaz (who's a health professional) gave me a lecture about taking vitamins and recommended Centrum. So I came home and started taking one each day (specially formulated supposedly for the over 50s.)  Anyway a few months later my hairdresser and I were commenting on the fact that my hair was in much better condition and it was at last growing rather than breaking off. We then started to wonder what I'd done differently - I couldn't think of anything - still using the same products, hair dryer etc etc and the only thing we can put it down to is the regular taking of Centrum. So there you go.

Another good week on the weightloss front - managed to drop another 400g. It's not particularly fast but I can live with it especially as I'm letting up on the weekend and having a few wines but have cut them out on 'school nights'.

As I said in my last post, last weekend was Curtis' 4th birthday so we went there for tea on Sunday night so have included a couple of pics of my 'boys' as well as a couple of the new 'do'.

Bloss and I are heading down to Brisbane next weekend - a friend and his new wife are in Brisbane at the moment - they normally live in Taiwan. So we're going to catch up with them for dinner and also catch up with Bloss's eldest son. We'll leave straight after work and have decided we'll head down as far as Maryborough and I've booked us into a motel there, then Saturday morning we'll get up early (we do every other day of the week anyway) and drive on to Brissie and I've got us a studio apartment for Saturday night out at Milton which is a lovely part of the city close to lots of lovely restaurants and also close to where our friends are staying too. I'm hoping to get in a bit of Christmas shopping on the Saturday afternoon and maybe visit the Riverside Markets on Sunday morning then we'll drive home - it usually takes us about 7 hours including coffee and lunch stops.

So that it from me - have a great week possums

Not much happening

Like the title says it's been a pretty quiet week. We went out for dinner with our friends last Saturday night - but a few wines, and good choices from the menu so that was OK - and points counted. Sunday was a quiet day at home - made up one of my huge containers of salad to last the week, then at night Grant, Tiff and the boys came down and we had a BBQ tea.

Workwise it's been a pretty busy week - but I dont' mind that - makes the days go faster. Another nice little loss on Wednesday of 400g - just plugging away. Still incredibly slack on the exercise front but I'm sure I'll get my act together one of these days!

Last night we had Bloss's team's Christmas function - tea at the local Yacht Club, then a few drinks down at the Marina, followed by a cruise round our lovely harbour. It's incredibly pretty at night and it's a few years since I'd last been on one so really enjoyed it - especially as it was an absolutely beautiful night - with a bit of lightening happening away in the distance just to add a bit of interest.

Today is Curtis' 4th birthday but Grant and Tiff are off to a wedding so we're all catching up tomorrow night - they had a birthday tea for him last night at their place but of course we couldn't go with the cruise being on.

And I think that's all my news - told you there wasn't much happening. Have a great week everyone.

Back to Earth - for the second time

Well I had already shared all my words of wisdom then I somehow managed to post my photos over my text and it all disappeared - and dammit there was no back button!

So now I've got to try and recreate what I said.  It was something along the lines that I was back in the groove at work and going with the flow.

I've been continuing to track faithfully and am pleased to report a nice little loss of 800g this week - so I just  need to keep on keeping on.

I had been eschewing alcohol for the past few weeks but that all came to a crashing end on the weekend.

First of all my friend Shaz and I decided to go to Rockhampton on Saturday and check out the extensions to the shopping centre there - brilliant - we now have shops like Wombat and Witchery.  Major excitement for us country bumpkins.  Anyway managed to get a few 'snips' - I'm not too obsessed on being bang up to date on fashion - end of season special do me just fine.  So got a couple of tops and a skirt - $250 to $50, $70 to $29 and $60 to $19.  Can't complain about that.

Then on the way home I got a text from Elle, another friend who has just had a relationship split and moved out and bought her own place.  She was in need of a bit of company.  Shaz had to go into work to attend to a patient - so I dropped her off, bought a bottle of wine and headed to Elle's new place.  A couple of bottles of wine later and one or two cointreaus later and I was history!  I stayed the night there then headed home in the morning.  Straight to bed and didn't surface till early afternoon.  I thought you were supposed to get smarter as you got older!!!

However I did record all the points!!

All right possums - another weekend beckons - catching up with friends now based in Brisbane that we haven't seen for quite a few years.  They're coming to us for a couple of drinks tomorrow night then we'll head to the pub for tea.

Keep on keepin on everybody and Carpe Diem ( Seize the day)

Loitering in the Lake District

This is the last of the holiday photos - we had a night down in the Lake District with my sister and husband - the day we drove down was absolutely peachy weather but the next day driving back was wet and cloudy but it was all still so picturesque.

Weigh in this morning - and only a miserly 100g - I was quite disappointed but not really surprised as I'm a daily weigher and all week it's just been holding pretty steady - up and down by a couple of hundred grammes throughout the week. However - that's my first kilo down and I just need to hold the focus and resolve and just keep plugging away. I have tracked very precisely all week and been on or under points, had no alcohol and been pretty good with my water. Areas for improvement this week are to drink more water and get some exercise happening. I'm still struggling to find that extra energy to get me kick started although I know that if I get going I will feel so much better and discover energy I didnt know I had - the reality is that the problem is in my head but I'll get there soon.

Not much in the way of other news - back at work with a lot more enthusiasm this week and almost back into the groove. No plans for the weekend at this stage - think I might get my act together and build the DVDs of our holiday photos - I use a programme called Pro Show Gold and have all sorts of interesting transitions and effects as my photos cycle through and I set it all to music - sometimes choosing a song which has some connection with the place, other times just choosing what I like. The only definite one is Brown Girl in the Ring for the some of the Frankfurt photos as this was being played by a band in the square as we were having a few beers with an Irish guy and his German lady friend who we just happened to meet! I think in total we've got about 3,000 plus photos between us so will split them into one for each city.

That's it from me possums - hope you all have a good week and to those of us who are firmly back 'on the wagon' - make sure you stay there!!

Sojourn in Scotland

Just a another lot of photos for you to check out - this time Scotland.  There are a few family ones in here too since this was mostly what the visit to Scotland was all about.  It's still one of the most beautiful countries in the world but just such a shame it rains so much - but then you wouldn't have all those glorious greens in the landscape if it didn't.  There are quite a lot of pretty photos of this section of our trip so I've split them into two posts.  Hope you enjoy
